KEEP UP WITH THE PARADIGM SHIFT IN MATH INSTRUCTION
There is not a magic math program that can truly address intervention concerns. "Plug-and-play" mathematics programs and curriculum cannot fix your math problem.
The only way to improve math outcomes and achievement is through focusing on instructional practices and teachers' math content knowledge. All Learners Network is committed to improving math pedagogy so that all students can access quality math instruction. The paradigm is shifting when it comes to how meaningful math intervention is done. It is time to disrupt antiquated notions around math education and focus on teacher training.
Real change is realized when schools and districts fully embrace the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) as a comprehensive initiative aimed at disrupting the tendency to over-label students. This shift in perspective prioritizes inclusive first instruction, personalized interventions and student choice to drive meaningful change in math understanding.
The first move is understanding that pedagogy is what needs to shift. The rest we can take care of.
A GLIMPSE INTO OUR MATERIALS
The High Leverage Resources
You can't teach students math without knowing where they need to go.
The High Leverage Concepts (HLCs) serve as a road map to assure that all students are meeting the most fundamental concepts to move onto the next grade. The HLC Learning Progressions were created as a resource for classroom teachers, math interventionists, and special educators who are creating learning opportunities for their students to achieve the concepts targeted by the HLCs. The High Leverage Assessments (HLAs) are designed to help identify what students CAN do so that educators can plan next instructional steps using the HLCs and Learning Progressions.
Together they are the solution to our math learning crisis.
High Leverage Concepts (HLCs)
High Leverage Concepts (HLCs) are one of ALN's trademark resources. These are key understandings identified at each grade level across Pre-K through Grade 8.
HLC Learning Progressions
Learning Progressions identify development along a continuum of concepts, models and skills that lead toward student understanding and application of the (HLCs).
High Leverage Assessments (HLAs)
Our High Leverage Assessments (HLAs) help educators assess current student understanding around the High Leverage Concept at a particular level.
